What a year.
A year a go I took a leap of faith and quit an amazingly high paying position where I had worked for 18 years... in the economy state that it was and a daughter gearing up to go to Gonzaga in the fall, people would say "what are you thinking"?
What was I thinking?
That money isn't everything in the world.
That living life to it's fullest is.
So a milestone this Halloween is that I have been doing what I love for an entire year.
With many milestones.
Many realizing that the business world is a funny one.
Like being in the therapist world.
Except in the therapist world....people are hurting and really wanting help to improve their world.
In the business world. A wee bit different story at times.
You really find out who are in this world for themselves unlike in my previous world of mental health where folks there are in this world to serve and give back to those suffering and in need for the sake of helping others.
In my world for the previous 18 years and more I had learned to work really hard to help those most in need to create the best world they can with the resources at their feet. And do whatever I can to ensure that their world is positive and moving in the right direction. I loved every minute of it until I moved up the administration ladder and lost the "direct helping" contact with people. As my Mr. Souers can attest, I am not a "numbers person", nor can I sit still long enough for so many meetings...
I take all of that learning and my Great Auntie Beth with me this past year into my world of creating a business. And continue to reassess those that I surround myself with have the same goals and passions that I do.
Why I am going there?
Because my Mr Souers laughs when I get stuck on "dates".
Because, this month is a year since I took a leap of faith to create the world I have wanted for a long time and remind myself of "what's important in life", whom in my life are important and remember to cherish them everyday because the quality of our relationships are what carry us everyday, not how much we "can make at the end of the year" or how many "friends" we really have. Because to me, the quality of my relationships and my family is what's really important at the end of the day.
So thank you for the last year.
This next year is looking pretty amazing with all that it has in store.
